Comic Block April 2016

Comics Nerd Block

Hi Everyone! At the beginning of May I received my 6th Comic Block subscription box from Nerd Block. Nerd Block is a subscription service that gives you nerd gear and collectibles each month. What I love most about them is that there are 6 themes to choose from: Classic, Arcade, Sci-Fi, Horror, Comic, and Jr. Depending on which theme you choose, Nerd Block will curate which items you will receive. I subscribe to Nerd Block’s Comic Block theme.

Included in Comic Block

  • 4 – 6 comic collectibles (includes 2-3 comics)
  • 1 exclusive comic shirt (only for subscribers)
  • Delivered monthly (also renewed every 3, 6, or 12 months)
  • From $19.99 + shipping a month ($60 value)

What Did I Get in April’s Comic Block?

  • Funko Pop! Vinyl Figure Captain America: Civil War (Iron Man was an alternate)
  • Shirtpunch T-shirt: Captain America (Nerd Block Exclusive Item)
  • Funko Reaction: The Flash Reverse Figure
  • Black Panther #1
  • Aliens: Defiance #1 (Nerd Block Exclusive)

Review

I’ve really enjoyed receiving Comic Blocks, especially for the last 2 months because of the upgrade. Although, I’m paying way more than I did when I first subscribed (Comic Blocks used to be $13 before the upgrade), I love the quantity of goodies that I receive each month – really top notch items.

My favorite items this month are the Captain America Pop! and T-shirt. I’m becoming a huge Funko collector and Nerd Block is encouraging my obsession.  This particular Funko has a bobble head, which I’ve never seen before. Very cute! Since my first block, I’ve loved the t-shirt designs each month and I wear them all of the time. I just wore the Captain America shirt when I went to see Captain America: Civil War. My only concern is that all of the T-shirts have been black. I love black and the color goes with all of the designs, so I guess it really doesn’t matter. I just wonder why that’s the case – that’s all.

I was really surprised to see the Funko Reaction figure as a part of this block. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the Flash, so the character didn’t appeal to me. I’ve seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gremlins Reaction figures and I like those better – just a preference. If you were wondering why I removed the figure from the packaging – I didn’t, it came opened, which was unfortunate.

As for the comics, I’ve never read Black Panther or Aliens, which is great because now I have the chance to. In the past, I’ve received many comics from Comic Block that I’m unfamiliar with. It’s fun discovering new comics! Although I haven’t had the chance to read Black Panther #1 yet, I felt cool that I recognized him in Captain America: Civil War.

Overall, I’m happy with this month’s Comic Block. Even though I liked March’s better, I was happy that I received items that I was unfamiliar with – makes getting this subscription box more exciting. Next month, Comic Block will feature items from The Avengers, X-Men, The Punisher, and more! Can’t wait! To find out more about Nerd Block and Comic Block, visit nerdblock.com!
