May 2016 Comic Block

Comics Nerd Block

Hi Everyone! At the beginning of June, I received my May 2016 Comic Block subscription box from Nerd Block. Nerd Block is a subscription service that gives you nerd gear and collectibles each month. They have 6 themes to choose from: Classic, Arcade, Sci-Fi, Horror, Comic, and Jr. Depending on which theme you choose, Nerd Block will curate which items you will receive. I subscribe to Nerd Block’s Comic Block theme. The May 2016 Comic Block is my 7th subscription box from Nerd Block. You can check out Comic Block April 2016 to see what items were in my block last month!

Included in Every Comic Block:

  • 4 – 6 comic collectibles (includes 2-3 comics)
  • 1 exclusive comic shirt (only for subscribers)
  • Delivered monthly (also renewed every 3, 6, or 12 months)
  • From $19.99 + shipping a month ($60 value)

What I Got in My May 2016 Comic Block:

Wacky Wobbler: Avengers 2 Mini Wobbler 4 Pack

You’ve probably heard the saying, “Two heads are better than one” – am I right? In this case, four bobble heads are better than one – especially if they are The Avengers. When I opened my May 2016 Comic Block, I was pleasantly surprised to find four mini Avengers Wacky Wobblers: Captain America, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and The Mighty Thor.

This pack of four is from the movie, Avengers 2: Age of Ultron (which I still haven’t seen). Each character is about 3-inches tall and is ready for battle. I love the miniature size of the figures. I had way to much fun creating fight scenes with them. I can’t wait to display them on my shelf with my other figures and Funkos.

Batman Penguin Dorbz Vinyl Figure

Now, if the four Avengers bobble heads weren’t enough to satisfy my vinyl figure addiction…Nerd Block included a Batman Penguin Dorbz in my May 2016 Comic Block. The 3-inch figure is stylized in his classic villainous attire, which includes his iconic black top hat, monocle, and tuxedo. In addition, he is holding his blue umbrella – he can’t commit crime without it.

Although The Penguin isn’t my favorite Batman villian (mine is The Joker – hands down), I have to admit he looks pretty adorable. This is the second Dorbz I own. Nerd Block has been helping me grow both my Funko and Dorbz collections, which makes every month’s block even more worth it.

The Comics: The Punisher #1 & Tank Girl #1

What would Comic Block be without the comics? The last 7 months, Nerd Block has introduced me to so many new comics. The May 2016 Comic Block includes two comics: The Punisher #1, and Tank Girl #1 – both are Nerd Block Exclusives. I’ve heard of Tank Girl before, but I’ve never read it. It appears this first issue is part of a new Tank Girl series called, Two Girls One Tank. After flipping through the beautifully illustrated pages, I have a good feeling that I will like this kickass female character.

The Punisher is another comic that I have not crossed paths with before and that I admit that I know nothing about. Luckily the May 2016 Comic Block has provided me with the first issues of the series. I don’t think Punisher would be my first choice of a comic to pick up at the comic shop, but I’m willing to give it a go.

X-Men Apocalypse T-Shirt (from Shirtpunch)

Last but not least, the shirt of the month from Shirtpunch. Every month, I’m pumped to see what shirt design I’ll get. I’ve gotten some really amazing ones – even if I don’t always know the reference. The May 2016 Comic Block featured a Nerd Block Exclusive X-Men Apocalypse T-Shirt. Although my boyfriend had to explain to me the t-shirt reference, I think this is a really cool shirt design. However, I wish the shirts from Shirtpunch were another color besides black – I have too many black t-shirts haha!

May 2016 Comic Block

My May 2016 Comic Block did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I will only be doing 1 or 2 more Comic Block unboxings. I plan on canceling my subscription in the next month or two because the shipping for 3 months is getting expensive. I look forward to receiving my remaining block(s).

According to the promotional card, items from Ultimate Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, and The Punisher will be featured in next month’s Comic Block. You can subscribe to Nerd Block’s Comic Block and other Blocks by visiting nerdblock.com.

What did you think of the items featured in the May 2016 Comic Block? Have to read The Punisher of Tank Girl? What items have you gotten from other Nerd Blocks in the past? Let me know in the comments below!

Stay tuned for my next post!

Oh wow, I LOVE Tank Girl. I stumbled across this post after reading your sock box post and I’m definitely subscribing now! My husband and I were doing GeekFuel, but we’re trying the regular Nerd Block now, with potential for trying other Nerd Block boxes. Have you tried several? Which is your favorite?

I still have to read Tank Girl, but it looks really good. I have a huge comic stash waiting to be read. I am not familiar with GeelFuel. I’ve only tried Comic Block through Nerd Block, but it seems like you get a lot of fun goodies in the other blocks. The only other “Geek” subscription box I’ve tried is Loot Crate, but I like Nerd Block better. I used to get the regular Loot Crate, but I canceled my subscription a few years ago. I’ve gotten the Loot Crate Level Up Socks (which I reviewed also on my blog), which is great for only $10 a month… but I thought their sock choices would be better than they are. Thanks for reading and thanks for subscribing! 🙂
