Top 10 Favorite Rides at Walt Disney World

Top 10 Favorite Rides at Walt Disney World

Disney Travel

Hello Everyone! My name is Candis and I’m a Disneyholic. I’m obsessed with anything and everything Disney. Although, I have to say my most favorite Disney-related “thing” is Walt Disney World. I went to Disney World for the first time when I was 3 years old. In total, I’ve been to the Orlando Disney Parks 4 times. As much as I love Disney World for its characters, and magical setting, I love it for its rides most of all. For that reason, I’ve curated a video playlist for you of my Top 10 Favorite Rides at Walt Disney World.

With that in mind, I wanted to provide you with high quality videos created by top-notch YouTube content creators. I will be featuring videos from SoCal Attractions 360, UndercoverTourist.com, and BigFatPanda. I like being able to relive the Disney magic anywhere and anytime I want. All three content creators do amazing videography, so it feels like you are really there in the parks riding those rides.

So, without further ado, let’s hit the Disney Parks and go on some rides! No minimum height required!

SPOILERS: All 10 videos contain footage of each ride in its entirety. If you don’t want to spoil your first-time ride experience, I suggest you don’t play the videos. Of course, a video is nothing like the real thing.

10. “it’s a small world” (Magic Kingdom)

“it’s a small world” is known as, “The Happiest Cruise That Ever Sailed.” During your boat ride to all seven continents, 300 adorable dolls will sing the ride’s classic anthem in their native language. There’s no need for a Fast Pass because there’s always a short wait for this ride. Maybe it’s because people are tired of hearing the song, but that’s not the case for me! (Source: BigFatPanda)

9. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress (Magic Kingdom)

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is a very underrated attraction that’s hidden in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland. This attraction is a 21-minute audio-animatronic show that takes you through the 20th century. It shows how the evolution of technology has impacted the life of an America family. The Carousel of Progress is a great attraction to see when it’s raining or you want to give your legs a break. Plus, you can always get into a show. (Source: BigFatPanda)

8. Spaceship Earth (Epcot)

Spaceship Earth explores the history of communication from The Stone Age to Modern Day. After your trip through time, you have the opportunity to answer some questions to design your future. So, make sure you take a good picture when you spot the camera. During this 16-minute ride, you will learn a lot of useful knowledge. Who knew a ride could be fun and informative at the same time? 7. The Great Movie Ride (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)

Attention all movie buffs! This is the ride for you! The Great Movie Ride takes you on a 22-minute guided tram tour through some of the most iconic movies in history. The ride features classic films, such as, Alien, Casablanca, Mary Poppins, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Singin’ in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, and more. Although the ride is recommended for all ages, there are some frightening scenes. For example, I was terrified of the Witch of the West when I was little. (Source: UndercoverTourist.com)
*Update: The Great Movie Ride closed on August 13, 2017 🙁

6. Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom)

On Space Mountain you will embark on a journey through outer space. Stars and constellations will light your way through pure darkness as you zoom past satellites, comets, and meteors. Fast Passes are offered for this ride, but I recommend going on this ride at the end of the day for a lesser wait. (Source: SoCal Attractions 360)

5. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ (Disney’s Hollywood Studios)

Step into a haunted elevator, where you’ll be exposed to sights and sounds inspired by the popular television show, The Twilight Zone. During your time in The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™, you will experience sudden drops and times of complete darkness. What I love about this thrill ride, is the number of drops is different every time you ride it. If you can snag a Fast Pass for this ride, do it. (Source: SoCal Attractions 360)

4. Peter Pan’s Flight (Magic Kingdom)

Explore Neverland with Peter Pan while gliding through the air in a pirate ship powered by pixie dust. Peter Pan’s Flight is a timeless dark ride for all ages. When I was little, it was one of my first rides at Disney World. Today, it continues to be a favorite. This ride is surprisingly high in demand – I recommend getting a Fast Pass for sure. (Source: SoCal Attractions 360)

3. Splash Mountain (Magic Kingdom)

Splash Mountain is your classic log ride, but with a Disney twist. Sing along to “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” as you float through the story of Br’er Rabbit, and his foes Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear. I love a good thrill ride, especially if it includes lovable Disney characters, and a 5-story drop off a waterfall. Yes, you will get wet! What many people might not know is Splash Mountain is based off the Disney film Song of the South (1946). A Fast Pass is recommended for this ride. (Source: SoCal Attractions 360)

2. Pirates of the Caribbean (Magic Kingdom)

The Pirates of Caribbean Ride is a true Disney treasure. Board your boat and get ready for an exciting adventure, where you will come face to face with swashbuckling pirates. In 2006, Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa, and other characters from the popular Pirates of the Caribbean films were added to the attraction. One thing the ride hasn’t changed is its classic anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).”  Even though, I would consider the ride “slow-paced,” I still get a thrill from the small drops and dark setting. 1. The Haunted Mansion (Magic Kingdom)

The Haunted Mansion is a spooky tour of a haunted estate, where 999 happy haunts call home. The ride is just the right amount of both scary, and fun for the whole family. The Haunted Mansion is without a doubt my favorite ride at Disney World.  (Source: SoCal Attractions 360)

Great post! I haven’t been to Disney since I was little but now that my kids are getting old enough to handle the park I’m sure we’ll be out there soon enough. Something to look forward to!

This is a great list! It’s honestly so difficult to pick just ten rides coz there are so many amazing ones in Disney! I really enjoyed Pirates of the Carribean and The Tower of Terror. 🙂

Thank you! 🙂 It was really hard to narrow it down to just 10 rides, but somehow I managed. Pirates and Tower of Terror are great choices!

I haven’t been to Disney since I was somewhere like 2. So I have no memory of what I like and don’t like! Eek. We’re hoping to get there with our brood in the next few years.

Since you haven’t been to Disney in a long time, I bet it will be so much fun to take your kids when the time comes. Many firsts for all of you. I like to watch videos of new attractions, so I know if its a ride that I would be interested in. Thanks for reading, Lydia! 🙂

I loved this! My 1st time going to Disney World was for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. Which is sad because I lived in Orlando at the time. We really couldn’t enjoy ourselves because it was tourist season and so packed. Watching the videos was like experiencing this for myself. It showed me what we missed out on. Great post!

Aw, thank you Miriam! 🙂 I’m sure it was amazing experiencing Disney World with your daughter, since it was both your first time there. I’ve taken trips to Disney at the ages of 3, 7, 14, and 18. Can’t wait until I have kids of my own and I can take them.

From experience, I’ve noticed the best time to go to Disney World is in the Fall. In grade school, I would get a fall break in September or October, so it wasn’t as crazy with tourists.
